Art Deco 1920s silver lizard brooch featuring stunning faceted marcasite stones over the body and legs. This life like brooch is set with bright orange eyes. Marcasites are actually Pyrite also known as Fools Gold. It was used in jewellery due to its ability to catch the light, giving a diamond effect.
Lizard jewellery became very popular in the Victorian era and continued into the 1920s. The Victorians enjoyed novelty pieces which included many different types of animals.
